As we near the end of the semester, we will be finishing the novel with a book project and beginning to review literary terms in preparation for the final. Keep an eye on Powerschool and keep everything up to date! 11/2018 Be prepared for a few reading quizzes and be sure to finish notecards on time in order to join in on the discussions. Those unfinished will have to make up the discussion with written work.
11/14 In light of recent events, pay attention to the reminds that are being put out to be sure you are keeping up with class work as we head into the Thanksgiving break. Make sure you are reading the novel and getting the notecards done on time! Remember, you need to be at page 102 by Friday. 11/2 We are ending the two units that include the Greeks and runs through Japan today. We will test on Monday and then begin our novel unit on "The Curious Dog in the Night-Time" by Mark Haddon. You still have time to acquire your own copy if you wish to have one.
11/1 PreACT today! 10/30 Due to the enthusiastic teaching of great minds who think alike, I have chosen to move your unit test to Monday 5th so that you only have two core tests on Friday. Additionally, the final draft or your research paper will now be due Tuesday 6th. Carry on. 10/25 We are finishing up trail processes and then looking briefly at the Romans, India and China before moving on to the novel. If you want your own copy of that novel, you still have a few days to acquire it. 10/16 We will be wrapping up the fine points of Oedipus in the next couple of days and embarking on the trial process. Be sure you have a clear understanding of textual events before that begins.
10/4 Poetry presentations went really well so now it is time to Look at Greek tragedy and Oedipus Rex! Be prepared with assigned readings and notecards as they are due so that you do not miss any of the big ideas or fall behind.
10/1 Okay, breath a collective sigh of relief as you should all have turned in your research papers! Congratulations! I will return these to you as they are graded but it will take some time so please be patient. After we finish this poetry section, remember that we will be heading into Oedipus Rex if yo would like to be reading ahead. 9/27 Be sure to get in to turnitin and make sure your access works properly. That is not something you want to cause you trouble on due dates. 9/26 Ok, we are back! I hope everyone made it though the storm okay.. Now is when we must look at the new dates for those tasks we missed. The paper will now be due Friday with all of its pieces and a copy must be placed in turnitin. We will catch that vocabulary tomorrow and take the quiz Friday as intended. In other words, we are just picking up where we left off before the storm.
9/12 UPDATE!!! Don't worry about due dates while you are out. Just stay safe and we will reset those when we all get back. 9/11 Okay, due to Hurricane Florence, we will be out of school later this week. That means you will have to take the quiz the day you come back so don't forget about it. Additionally, your next draft of the paper will be due that day as well with all the accompanying data. If, however, you would like to go ahead and turn in your papers by Wednesday, I would be glad to start grading them during the time we will be out. Be safe. 9/10 Keep an eye on the weather this week. If we are out due to inclement weather, those items that are due while we are out will be due the day we return! No extra time... 9/6 The due date for your fist draft is upon you. Do not forget to include the line-by-line plagiarism checker with problems addressed. It must be ready to turn in at the beginning of class. 9/4 Yay! A nice long weekend behind us. However, keep up with the first draft of your papers due this Friday with the plagiarism check printed out and any suggested plagiarism spots addressed or corrected. This is a short week so don't let it sneak up on you. 8/29 Reminders: The Middle East Unit test is coming up Friday. Journals will be due the 5th and your first draft of the research paper is due the 7th. Don't forget to include the line-by- line plagiarism results indicating how you corrected any issues. This weekend includes a three day break! Yay!

Remember to spend the extra time on part 4 and the hard part of putting your project together will be done. 8/14 We will be wrapping up background information and beginning t0 read, The Epic of Gilgamesh, this week. Be sure you are keeping up with the notes and keep the idea of social definitions in mind as we go through this material. The first student led instruction will begin this week as well.
8/8/18 I wanted to let you all know that the codes for google classroom were out of order yesterday. I think that problem has been corrected but rematch your codes before sighing on just in case..
